HERE'S LUCY

Here´s Lucy foi uma sitcom, criado por Ray Singer, protagonizada pela atriz Lucille Ball, centrada na personagem Lucy Carter, uma jovem senhora viúva, que resolve trabalhar e tentar criar seus dois filhos. O programa nasceu pouco tempo depois do encerramento de outro seriado interpretado por Lucille chamada “The Lucy Show”, que vinha alcançando uma boa audiência até então.

Mas, por essa mesma época, Lucille havia vendido a sua produtora a Desilu Productions, que também era responsável pela produção de “The Lucy Show”. Em vista disso, Lucille resolveu encerrar o espetáculo e criar uma nova série com a sua nova e recém-criada produtora, a Lucille Ball Productions, através dos produtores Cleo Smith e Tommy Thompson, e assim foi feito.

O espetáculo narrava o cotidiano de Lucy Carter, que morava em 4863 Valley Lawn Drive, em Los Angeles, Califórnia, viúva recentemente, tinha dois filhos, Kim e Craig e ela trabalhava como secretária numa agência de emprego de seu cunhado Harry.

Curiosamente os filhos de Lucy Carter eram interpretados pelos filhos reais de Lucille Ball, chamadas Lucie Arnaz e Desi Arnaz Jr. respectivamente, filhos de seu casamento com o ator Desi Arnaz, com quem ficou casada por um longo tempo.

Os episódios descreviam histórias da vida de Carter em sua casa junto às crianças Kim e Craig e o seu trabalho dela no escritório, suas rusgas com seu patrão Harry, diante das artimanhas amalucadas dela. Outro fator muito marcante desta série foram as participações de várias celebridades do cinema e televisão como artista convidado interpretando personagens ou eles mesmos.

Num dos programas de 1970, por exemplo, Richard Burton e Elizabeth Taylor participaram num enredo que envolvia um famoso diamante deles, que não queria mais sair do dedo de Lucy. Durante o decorrer dos episódios muitas celebridades passaram pelo programa, tais como Ann-Margret, Jack Benny, Milton Berle, George Burns, Carol Burnett, Johnny Carson, Petula Clark, Tony Randall e Danny Thomas, entre muitos outros.

Outra coisa que era muito peculiar ao espetáculo era o fato de Lucy Carter aparecer no final do programa como Lucille Ball. Em 1972, Lucille Ball sofreu uma fratura na perna enquanto esquiava e como resultado, apareceu por muito tempo durante a temporada de 1972-1973, com a perna engessada e no enredo da série foi descrita que Lucy Carter também teria quebrado a perna, mas grande parte da habilidade de Lucille Ball acabou sendo prejudicada devido a este incidente e o programa também perdeu muito da sua parte cômica com isso.

Ao fim do término da temporada de 1973-1974, Lucille Ball tomou a decisão de não mais continuar com o espetáculo, alegando querer procurar outros projetos para sua vida e encerrando com isso uma atividade de quase 23 anos, quase que ininterruptamente na televisão, o que é um grande feito. Lucille Ball foi provavelmente a última atriz norte-americana da chamada “idade clássica da televisão” a ainda ter um programa semanal no início de 1974.

Outro fator determinante foi que, durante a última temporada as avaliações do público haviam caído bastante. O espetáculo foi apresentado originalmente nos Estados Unidos pela rede CBS, entre 23 de setembro de 1968 a 18 de março de 1974, num total de 144 episódios, de aproximadamente 30 minutos cada, em seis temporadas.
