HE-MAN - DESENHO

He-Man and the Master of the Universe era um desenho animado produzida pela Filmation baseado no sucesso dos brinquedos da linha "Master of the Universe" da Mattel, que foi apresentado originalmente nos Estados Unidos, entre 9 de setembro de 1983 a 8 de dezembro de 1985, num total de 130 episódios. No Brasil foi exibida pela Rede Globo e ficou conhecida como "He-Man e os Defensores do Universo".

Toda aventura se passa num planeta fictício chamado de Eternia, uma terra de magia, mito e fantasia. O personagem principal do espetáculo era o Príncipe Adam, filho do Rei Randor e da Rainha Marlena. O Príncipe Adam era um homem musculoso, loiro e aparentemente covarde, mas ao segurar a Espada do Poder e gritar bem alto as palavras mágicas "Pelos Poderes de Grayskull!, Eu Tenho o Força!", ele era imediatamente transformado em He-Man, o homem mais poderoso do universo.

He-Man também usava a força de sua espada para também transformar o seu medroso tigre de estimação, no temível Gato Guerreiro, que além de ajudar He-Man nas batalhas, também servia como montaria para ele. Contava ainda com Gorpo, uma figura estranha que ora parecia o bobo-da-corte ou um mágico atrapalhado e também com Mentor e sua filha Teela.

He-Man e seus amigos lutavam para defender Eternia das forças malignas do Esqueleto, um asqueroso tirano que tinha um crânio como rosto e que tinha como sonho, conquistar a fortaleza do Castelo de Grayskull, para assim tirar os poderes de He-Man e conquistar Eternia e o universo inteiro.

O espetáculo teve tanto êxito que acabou gerando um spin-off chamada "She-Ra: Princiess of Power", que seguia as aventuras como irmã de He-Man. Novas tentativas subseqüentes da Mattel para relançar a linha de brinquedos de He-Man conduziu a uma nova série chamada "The New Adventures of He-Man", que foi exibido entre 10 de setembro a 7 de dezembro de 1990, num total de 65 episódios, onde He-Man era transportado para o futuro, para um planeta chamado Primus.
